Noni Hub Graduates 19 Persons with Disabilities under ‘Ablepreneurs 2.0’ in Wa

Noni Hub, a technology innovation company in Wa, has graduated 19 persons with disabilities (PWDs) under its ‘Ablepreneurs 2.0’ project, aimed at supporting them in building economically sustainable businesses.

The project, which followed the successful implementation of a pilot, Ablepreneurs 1.0, is in partnership with the School of Thoughts with funding from the Resolution Project.

The graduation, held over the weekend, marked the climax of months of intensive business training, mentoring and equipping beneficiaries with the skills and tools needed to run profitable ventures.

Each graduate received tailored business toolkits including tailoring machines, hairdryers, banking ovens, roasters, mobile phones, soap storage containers, weaving machines, notebooks, power banks, and gloves, among others.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Noni Hub, Mr. Sumaila Chakurah, said the event was not just the end of training but the beginning of a new journey of dignity, prosperity and inclusion.

He said the Ablepreneurs project was born out of the need to transform disabilities into local abilities by empowering PWDs to contribute meaningfully to their communities.

He explained that the initiative sought to provide business development support, upskilling and mentoring for PWDs to become self-reliant and change agents.

Mr. Chakurah said through the training, participants learned record-keeping, digital marketing, customer retention and other skills that would help them boost their businesses.

He urged the beneficiaries to use the toolkits judiciously and promised that Noni Hub would closely monitor their progress.

He said the items provided were not gifts but long-term investments into the dignity and independence of the graduates.

He emphasized that the aim was to build entrepreneurs who would not only care for their own families but become job creators and support other PWDs in their communities.

He expressed gratitude to partners such as the School of Thoughts, the Resolution Project, the Wa School for the Blind, the Wa School for the Deaf, and the Ghana Federation of Disability Organizations (GFD) for making the project a success.

Mr. Chakurah also commended the Noni Hub team for their unwavering commitment to delivering the project successfully.

Upper West Regional President of the Ghana Federation of Disability Organizations (GFD), Mr. Alhassan Suleman, commended Noni Hub for not just delivering training but also providing the tools to empower participants.

He encouraged beneficiaries to use the toolkits for their intended purpose to reduce begging on the streets.

Headmistress of the Wa School for the Blind, Reverend Monica Achana, also praised the commitment and resilience of the participants, urging them to remain focused and use the skills they acquired to transform their lives and support their dependents.

She thanked the Noni Hub CEO and his team for their consistency and integrity, noting that many organizations only promise but do not follow through.

She described the participants’ progress as a testament to their dedication and the power of commitment.

The Headmaster of the Wa School for the Deaf, Mr. Andreas Gbormekor, emphasized that the biggest capital the participants had received was not the physical tools but the knowledge and skills gained.

He urged them to see the training as a foundation and to set clear goals for their businesses.

He recommended periodic refresher training to keep the beneficiaries on track and to support continuous improvement in their enterprises.

Some of the beneficiaries, in brief remarks, expressed gratitude to Noni Hub and partners for the opportunity and pledged to put the knowledge and tools to good use.

“Noni Hub, we thank you greatly. You have indeed taught us how to fish, you did not feed us fish. For this enormous support, we cannot thank you enough,” Madam Abdulai Kutum said.
