NADMO readies itself ahead of rainy season

The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) in the Upper West Region is taking measures to handle any calamities that may occur during the rainy season.

According to the Upper West Regional Director of NADMO, Ahmed Mustapha, the organization is working closely with the various Municipal and District Assemblies in the region to clear gutters, allowing for the free flow of rainwater.

He also mentioned that, they have partnered with Zoomlion Ghana Limited to remove refuse dams blocking waterways as the rainy season approaches.

"At present, we have initiated discussions with various assemblies. The Wa Municipal Assembly has commenced desilting some of the gutters. Additionally, some of the assembly members have identified areas within their electoral areas that impede the free flow of water and have promptly started desilting those areas," he explained.

Mr Mustapha announced that NADMO has established fire volunteer groups in some communities within the Wa Municipality, known for bush burning. These communities include Chansah, Nakore, Charia, and Kperisi.

Speaking on Info Radio’s Zienyaaye Upper West, Ahmed Mustapha explained that NADMO has implemented measures to address any possible disasters in the region.

He expressed gratitude to the media, particularly Info Radio, for their unwavering support in the organization's mission.
