Miss Dumba'22: Ayisha picks Star Performer, Tuuro and Torikuubu triumph

Wa East stylish and highly promising contestant, Ayisha Iddrisu last Saturday picked the award for Star Performer of the night in the ongoing Miss Dumba pageantry.


She took the prize for the second time following her energizing performance on Saturday night.


Ayisha's performance on Chakali Bawaa – a dance of her native Chakali people of Wa East – was full of energy and vigour.


Her confidence and composure on stage coupled with her beautiful display of the dance attracted the cheers of the audience.


Not only was the audience enthralled by her performance but also the judges – a judge dashed her a shirt gift as his remarks for her performance.


She became the second highest to win the prize of Star Performer, one behind Asin-ma who took it thrice so far in the five nights of performance.

Hadiat Tuurosung, Tuuro as known on stage grabbed to her bosom the award for Best Costume with her performance on Dumba festival.


Tuuro adorned herself in a royal dance attire of the Waala people with which she danced to the rhythm of the drums.


Before then, she took her audience down memory lane to the inception of the Dumba festival as well as its stake in the Waala tradition.


It was her second time picking the same award: her first was on the first week of the Miss Dumba journey.


Torikuubu receiving prize

Torikuubu also picked her debut award in the contest, the prize of Most Eloquent.


She marvelled her audience and judges with her performance on Duuye Festival celebrated by the people of Daffiama in the Upper West Region.


As she walked upstage with the song of the Duuye festival of harvest, she displayed great confidence in telling her story.


She was full of joy on winning a debut and promised her audience and funs of more captivating performances in the coming weeks.


The 10-week-journey of the Miss Dumba pageantry is already halved with no evictions yet.


It appeared the potential queens are giving one another a good battle as all nine continue to week-6 come Saturday, September 9, 2020.
