Minister advised parents to take interest in their children’s TVET education


The Deputy Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources and Member of Parliament for Sisala East Constituency, Mr. Amidu Chinnia Issahaku has advised parents and guardians to take interest in their children’s education especially through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).


The Minister said this on the occasion of the 10th Anniversary celebration of the St Augustine’s Senior High Technical School at Charipong in the Nadowli-Kaleo Distirict.


According to him, a country can only advance if there is skills development in the vocational education to create more jobs for the people.


He indicated that the Akufo Addo-led government is emphasizing on vocational education to develop the country.


Mr. Chinnia urged parents to collaborate with teachers to perform their moral and educational responsibility on children by supervising them at school and after school to ensure that they are not involve in social vices.


On his part, the acting Paramount Chief of Charikpong, Naa Walter Kanubana Kpogro II, on behalf of the elders, assured to provide the school with land for the expansion of the school if there be the need to separate the Secondary from the Technical compartments.


He also promised to maintain the peace that Charikpong people have enjoyed over the years so that academic work and any development can be achieved.


He further advised students to desist from such indiscipline attitudes as rioting, hooliganism, stealing, fighting, homosexuality, lesbianism, drunkenness, among others, which may hinder the achievement of academic excellence.


Naa Kpogro II however lamented the roads network linking the Charikpong Paramountcy are in a deplorable state making the school at the community inaccessible.


He added that, out of 34 communities in the area, only 4 are connected to the national grid which he said is also affecting the development of Charikpong and the school in particular.
