Jirapa MP urges parents to take their wards education serious

The Member of Parliament for Jirapa Constituency, Mr Cletus Dapilah, has stressed the need for parents and guardians to take the education of their wards very seriously as it is the only reliable panacea for community and national development.

He said only source of economic liberation for the people in the northern part of the country is education and urged parent and guardians to provide the necessary needs for their children for them to stay in school.

Mr Dapilah said this at Dogho in the Jirapa Municipality at the weekend when the chief and people of the Dogho community to observe their home coming ceremony.

The event was on the theme: “Education, Unity and Development”.

The durbar was to emphasize the importance of education and to seek support from the stakeholders and well-wishers in the municipality to establish a school at the Dogho community to bring formal education closer to the children at the community and its environs.

He explained that parents and guardians should sometimes force their children to go to school and should not over pamper them which will destroy their future.

Mr Dapilah pledged to support the school project with 100 bags of cement and other supports.

The chief of the Dogho community, Naa Adam Puoyel Maalo, observed that children in the area trek about 3km to 6km to attend school at Konzokala which is a worry to them.

The chief also identified the lack of electricity at the community as a major setback to the development of the area.

He said the school children could not also learn at home in the night which is adversely affecting their performance in school.

He therefore appealed to the authorities in the district to facilitate the electrification of the community.

The Municipal Chief Executive of Jirapa, Mr Nicholas Soyiri, also pledged to support the education project with 200 bags of cement while Azuma Resources Limited also pledged to support the project.
