Lawra MP commissioned two mechanized boreholes

The Member of Parliament for Lawra constituency, Mr Bede Anwataazumo Ziedeng has commissioned two mechanized boreholes for the Zambo-Nawoyele community and the Eremong Senior High Technical School in the Lawra Municipality of the Upper West Region.

The two mechanized boreholes are in connection with Qatar Charity Foundation, a non-governmental organization based in Accra.

Speaking at a short ceremony to commission the boreholes, Mr Ziedeng said providing potable water to his people in the constituency is his heart's desire.

He indicated that he has so far drilled eight boreholes in the constituency in addition to the two mechanized boreholes which will help ease the water situation in the Eremong SHTS and the Zambo-Nawoyele community as well as the constituency.

Mr Ziedeng stated that though his heart's desire is to make potable water accessible in the constituency, nonetheless, he did not ignore the other sectors of health, school, roads, and others.

According to the MP, he has also repaired over 50 broken-down boreholes in the constituency and all are functioning so far.

Mr Ziedeng expressed gratitude to the Qatar Charity Foundation for their kindness in coming to the aid of the Zambo Nawoyelle community and the Eremon SHTS with the boreholes which they are now benefitting.

The Lawra lawmaker also applauded the Lawra Municipal Chief Executive and his staff for their support in promoting development in the constituency.

The Assembly Member for Kpaa-radaa Electoral Area, Mr James Luanteng expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the MP and the Qatar Charity Foundation for bringing relief to the people of the Nawoyele community.

He indicated that people used to trek to Zambo Kpeing to fetch water but the MP has drawn them close to potable water.

The Assistant Headmaster in charge of administration for the Eremon SHTS, Mr Mahamudu Hudu also thanked the Member of Parliament for the Lawra constituency and the Qatar Charity for giving the school potable water.

He noted that the school used to experience water shortages as the over 4,400 student population outweighed the available water sources which affected them, especially their attendance at Monday morning assemblies.

Mr Hudu said, “Students are always attributing the lateness to the water challenges all the times”.

In the area of schools, the MP donated 4 computers to the Lawra Municipal Education Directorate and onward distributed them to the three senior high schools in the constituency, and that is Lawra Senior High School, Eremon Senior High School and Brifoh Senior High School.

He also donated items worth GHC11, 500.00 to Brifoh Senior High School when the girls' dormitory was gutted by fire and 100 pieces of student mattresses valued at GHC18, 000.00 to the Lawra SHS when the girls' dormitory got ripped off by a violent rainstorm.

“Ladies and gentlemen, l am seriously working at getting more classroom blocks for our basic schools and also providing more Kindergarten schools in the constituency,” Mr Ziedeng said.

Mr Ziedeng also donated three heavy-duty air-conditioners to the cold room of the Lawra Municipal Health Directorate for storing essential drugs and vaccines which cost GHC18, 000.00.

He also repaired the Lawra Municipal Hospital’s X-ray machine at a cost of GHC18, 000.00 and said, “It will also reduce the transportation cost of people going to Nandom, Jirapa or Wa for X-ray checkup”.
