Parents at Kpare, a farming community in the Lambussie District of the Upper West Region, have raised concerns about the lack of teaching staff at the Kpare Basic School.
They said their primary school currently has only two teachers, leaving hundreds of pupils unsupervised and vulnerable to disorder during school hours.
Speaking to Info Radio, the parents described how children often spend the day fighting and playing due to the absence of structured learning. They stressed that they send their children to school hoping they will learn, but they end up fighting and playing all day.
The community is calling on the Lambussie District Assembly and the Ghana Education Service (GES) to deploy more teachers to the school. They emphasized that without immediate intervention, the future of their children remains at risk.
The School Management Committee (SMC) chairman, Mr. Ngmen-Zagra Duneenoe, echoed these concerns, stating that the teacher shortage has led to poor performance in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and a rise in school dropouts.
He said they have submitted several complaints to the Lambussie District Assembly and the Education Directorate, but they have yet to receive any positive response.
