Guse residents appeal for Kindergarten and Primary School to Boost Early Education

Residents of Guse in the Sigri Electoral Area of the Wa West District of the Upper West Region are appealing to authorities for the provision of a Kindergarten (KG) and a basic primary school.

The absence of early childhood education facilities in the community has become a growing concern, as many children are unable to begin their education at the appropriate age.

Speaking to Info Radio, Mr Bonmenga Tungbani, a resident of Guse, expressed the community’s frustration, noting that a significant number of children are currently not enrolled in any form of schooling due to the lack of a Kindergarten.

“There are many young children in this community who are out of school simply because there is no Kindergarten facility here,” he said.

“We are pleading with the Wa West District Assembly to prioritize the construction of a Kindergarten and at least a basic school from Primary 1 to 3.”

The situation is further compounded by the long distances children must travel to attend school in neighbouring communities such as Bienye.

Mr. Adams Tungbani, another concerned resident, explained that the travel burden discourages school attendance and negatively affects children’s learning outcomes.

“Some parents are forced to keep their children at home because the journey to Bienye is simply too far and unsafe for young children,” he stated. “This puts our children at a disadvantage from the start.”

The residents are therefore appealing to the government, non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders to step in and support the establishment of proper educational facilities in Guse.

They believe this would not only improve access to education but also provide children with a solid academic foundation from an early age.
