Residents of Goli in the Nadowli-Kaleo District have appealed to the government to renovate the old teachers’ quarters in their community, which have become uninhabitable over the years.

The community believes that refurbishing these quarters would help alleviate the shortage of decent accommodation for teachers posted to the local school.

Bartholomew Vuozie, a resident, highlighted the deteriorated state of the quarters, emphasizing that the buildings are no longer suitable for habitation. He noted that teachers often face significant challenges in securing decent housing, which affects their comfort and ability to perform their duties effectively.

Mr Vuozie urged the government to restore the quarters, which would serve as an important addition to the existing teachers’ accommodations, reducing the strain on available housing facilities.

In addition to the housing appeal, the people of Goli are also seeking support to acquire a shea butter extraction mill. The women in the community are eager to engage in shea butter production as a business venture. However, the lack of an extraction mill forces many to sell their raw shea nuts, a decision they often regret due to lost economic opportunities.

Datuah Martin, speaking to Info Radio, appealed to individuals and organisations capable of assisting the community in securing this essential equipment.
