EC commences three-day mop-up voter registration exercise


The Electoral Commission (EC) has begun a three-day mop-up voter registration exercise from August 1 to August 3, 2024.


Mr Ali Osuman, the Upper West Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, speaking to Info Radio, said the mop-up exercise is to offer persons who turned 18 years old after the recent limited voter registration and those who could not register previously the opportunity to have their names captured in the poll book.


He clarified that the mop-up exercise is solely for voter registration exercise. He added that the Commission will begin a voter exhibition exercise on August 20.


Mr. Ali stressed that the registration will take place at all the municipal and district offices of the Commission in the Upper West Region.


Additionally, the Wa Central Prisons, Dr. Hilla Limann Technical University, and SD-Dombo University of Science and Integrated Development Studies will serve as centers for the 3-day exercise.


He reiterated the requirements for registration, including presenting a Ghana Card or passport or having two guarantors who are already registered voters.
