Parents of children in Tieyir, a farming community within the Jagluu Electoral Area of the Wa West District, are appealing to the District Assembly and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to establish a Kindergarten (KG) school locally. Currently, their children are compelled to trek to neighboring communities such as Younuuri or Jenekaa in the Sawla-Tuna Kaleba District to access early education.

Residents highlight the challenges faced by children, particularly those attending school in Jenekaa, who must cross a river before reaching their destination. During the rainy season, the river becomes impassable, cutting off students from accessing education and placing their safety at risk.

In an interview with Info Radio Martin Sunti, the Chief of Tieyir, Mr. Zuzee Tie, appealed to government authorities and NGOs to support the establishment of a KG school within the community, emphasizing the importance of accessible early education for local children.

Mr. Yaviree Kaleba, a concerned parent, explained that the long distance and natural barriers such as the river hinder many children from attending school. “Many children are not in school because of the distance and the river between our community and the nearby districts,” he stated.

Madam Nyol Zuzee, another community resident, also expressed deep concern over the impact these challenges have on children’s education and future prospects.

The community’s call underscores the urgent need for infrastructural development to ensure that children in Tieyir have access to quality early childhood education within their own community.
