1V1D: We can now heave a sigh of relief – Jagluu Assembly Member

Mr Moses Bapile, the Assembly Member for the Jagluu Electoral Area in the Wa West District, says the residents of Jagluu and himselself could heave a sigh of relief as the government has taken the initiative to construct a dam for the community.

He told Info Radio in an interview that the project which comes under the government's One Village One Dam (1V1D) initiative was almost completed, and that it was done well and fitted for purpose.

He said the dam will serve a lot of purposes, and that they will not struggle for water anymore.

Mr Bapile added that it was the first time they would also get water in the dry season to build their houses and also make some gardens and get some vegetables.

The Assembly Member also identified access to healthcare services as another major challenge to the community that needed urgent attention.

He said in times of any serious ill-health case, they had to go to Gurungu because there is no facility at the community.

Mr. Babile explained that within the last month they lost a baby because they could not get maternal healthcare services on time.

He said it was not the first time adding that, the situation had affected the quality of childbirth and maternal health.

However, the Assembly Member revealed that the community had contributed some money to construct a dam, but would now divert that money building a health facility for the community, since the dam was now constructed by the government.

Mr Bapile appealed to the government and benevolent organizations and individuals to help provide the community with a health facility to help ease their scuffle in accessing healthcare services.
