Zoomlion Ghana Limited Urged to Ensure Cleanliness of Gutters in Upper West Region Ahead of Rainy Season

The Upper West Regional Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Mustapha Ahmed, has called on waste management giant Zoomlion Ghana Limited to prioritize the cleanliness of gutters in major towns in the region as the rainy season looms, in a bid to stave off potential flooding.

Mr Ahmed emphasized that it is the responsibility of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, supported by the Municipal and District Assemblies, to tackle choked gutters and maintain environmental cleanliness in the region.

Speaking on Info Radio’s Tizine Yiri Yela program, Mr Ahmed stressed the need for the waste management company to particularly focus on ensuring that the gutters remain clear during the rainy season.

Highlighting the region's efforts in solid waste management, Ahmed pointed to the recent commissioning of a new multipurpose waste recycling plant by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in Kperisi.

He expressed confidence that this facility will significantly contribute to the effective management of solid waste in the region.

Additionally, Mr Ahmed called on all residents of the region to take personal responsibility as ambassadors of disaster management, stressing the importance of contributing to a safe and clean environment.

Shifting the focus to the recent Green Ghana Day activity, Ahmed emphasized the significance of the initiative, citing the protective and aesthetic value that trees bring to the environment.

He urged residents to recognize the crucial role that trees play in safeguarding the land and enhancing the beauty of the environment.
