The Metropolitan Chief Executive of Wa, Hon. Nurah Issah Danwaana, has issued a stern call to residents to improve their waste disposal habits, citing mounting sanitation challenges within the municipality.

In an exclusive interview with Info Radio, Hon. Nurah expressed concern over the widespread littering and indiscriminate waste disposal, even in areas equipped with designated waste containers provided by the assembly. He specifically pointed out that some residents process groundnuts at the Wa market and improperly dispose of shells into storm drains, exacerbating sanitation issues.

The Mayor emphasized that the habit of dumping solid waste into gutters and drainage systems is prevalent across the metropolis, posing risks to both public health and urban infrastructure. To address these concerns, he announced plans to recruit additional personnel to bolster the capacity of the Environmental Health Department.

Hon. Nurah called on all residents to participate actively in the monthly community cleanup initiative, known as "Operation Clean Your Frontage". He revealed that security agencies, including police and military personnel, will be deployed this Saturday to enforce sanitation directives and ensure community participation.

The Wa Metropolitan Assembly continues to urge residents to dispose of waste responsibly and to cooperate with authorities to maintain a clean and healthy environment for all.
