An influential youth group based in Wa christened "Jamaica Youth" led by its President Alhaji Hashim Alhassan, popularly known as Sisco, has called on the government of Ghana to consider allocating mining concessions to young entrepreneurs as a strategic measure to curb unemployment and address drug abuse in the region.

Speaking to thousands of young people in Wa over the weekend, following a large-scale awareness walk against drug abuse, Alhaji Sisco emphasized the urgent need for economic opportunities to keep youth engaged and away from harmful substances. He highlighted that many young individuals are turning to drug use due to a lack of decent employment prospects.

Alhaji Sisco also issued a stern warning to individuals involved in the transportation and distribution of illicit drugs into the Upper West Region, asserting that the youth would not tolerate activities that threaten their future and well-being.

The youth leader’s appeal underscores a growing call for innovative solutions to youth unemployment and substance abuse in the region, with many advocating for increased economic empowerment initiatives tailored to young people.
