UW Regional Hospital to hold mass burial for some unidentified bodies

The Management of the Upper West Regional Hospital has announced plans to organize mass burial for some unidentified and unclaimed corpses deposited with its mortuary.

This was contained in a public release dated July 27, 2022 and signed by the Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Robert Amesiya, it said the move has become necessary to make room for the mortuary to preserve new bodies as it presently lacks enough space to accommodate other bodies.

The unidentified bodies, numbering eleven, were all deposited at the mortuary by the Ghana Police Service with the first deposited on June 19, 2020 and the last, June 16, 2022.

The hospital management therefore requested the public who might not have seen their relatives for some time now to visit the mortuary unit for identification and collection of such bodies.

The hospital’s management has earmarked 21 days from the date of the public notice to carry out the mass burial exercise.
