Upper West Regional Hospital Award 43 Hardworking Staff

The Upper West Regional Hospital management has recognized and awarded the hard-working staff of the hospital for their performance in the year 2023.

A total of 43 staff members received certificates and citations for their excellent work. Mr Agyekum Reagan was declared the overall best-performing staff and was awarded a brand new Apsonic 125 motorbike.

The Upper West Regional Minister, Dr Hafiz Bin Salih, also presented him with a cash prize of Ghs2000.00. Dr Sarah Naa Amuah Dodoo Braimah was named the second-best-performing staff and was awarded a chest freezer.

Madam Bayong Dumah Judith was third and received a 43-inch LED television set. Madam Salifu Zenabu, the fourth best-performing staff, was awarded a tabletop refrigerator and a cash prize of GHs1000.00 from the Upper West Regional Minister.

Speaking at the event, the Upper West Regional Hospital Medical Director, Dr. Robert Amesiya, emphasized that as healthcare providers, their primary responsibility is to provide excellent care to patients.

However, he added that it is equally important to acknowledge and motivate the staff who contribute to the hospital's success.

According to Dr. Amesiya, in the four years since the hospital's establishment, four staff members have been recognized nationally.

“The purpose of today’s gathering is to further ensure that our staffs are well motivated to provide the needed care so that together we can help the Ghana Health Service and the other agencies of the Ministry of Health realized the universal health coverage,” he added.

The Upper West Regional Director of Health Services, Dr. Damien Punguyiri, said he was glad with the work output of the staff of the hospital.

“I am aware of the agitations that preceded the commission of the hospital…and so when the mantle fell on me the thinking was if the community members were so interested in this hospital and we fail them we were going to get a lot of backlash,” he said.

He mentioned that he has been able to get more staff, particularly specialists and doctors and has developed their skills.
