The residents of Piree, in the Nadowli-Kaleo District, have expressed their concerns regarding the inadequate source of water in their community.
Madam Mary Baalonburo, a community member in an interview with Info Radio disclosed that the insufficient water supply is causing problems in their marriages.
She narrated that the available water source is being shared with their animals, which leads to a scarcity of water for household use.
Madam Baalonburo mentioned that they can spend the entire day in search of just a basin of water for cooking and household chores.
“In our community, we are facing a severe water crisis. We spend most of our time searching for water. The situation is so dire that even our animals are struggling to find water to drink, and we have to compete with them to fetch water,” she explained.
She mentioned that politicians only show up to deceive them for votes. According to her, they would not participate in the 2024 generations if their concerns were not attended to.
Another resident mentioned that the boreholes available are not flowing and it saddens them that they are sharing water with their animals.
Madam Sombomaa added that they have suffered from this water crisis for a long time and it has a lot of difficulties for them.
