Residents of Kojokperi express concern over inadequate water supply

Inadequate water supply at Kojokperi, a community in the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa District is said to be affecting the lives of the people in the community.

Even though the community has a community water system, most households do not have water due to the cost involved.

Speaking to Info Radio in the community, Mr Haruna Alhassan said the few available boreholes for the many residents are under constant pressure and unable to meet their water needs.

"As I mentioned earlier, water is a major issue in our community. We had a mechanized water system installed by a company last year, but unfortunately, some of us were unable to afford the cost of extending the water supply to our homes. This issue is particularly severe during the dry season,” Mr Alhassan stated.

Mohammed Asana, another resident, mentioned that the women in their community have to wake up very early every morning to search for water, but they are unable to return home until late. This situation is having a negative impact on their businesses.

The people of the community are therefore appealing to the government to provide more boreholes to alleviate the water shortage.
