Residents of Jirapa Zaghe, a farming community in the Konkuo Electoral Area of the Jirapa Municipality, have voiced pressing concerns over the lack of essential development in education, road infrastructure, and electricity supply. During a recent community engagement with Info Radio, local residents highlighted the urgent need for government intervention to address these critical social issues.

Mr. Isaac Dordaa, a prominent community member, outlined the challenges faced by the local educational system. He explained that the community’s former Kindergarten (KG) has been upgraded to a primary school, but the community still lacks a dedicated KG facility. While the school now offers education up to Primary Six, students are compelled to travel to neighboring communities within Jirapa to attend Junior High School (JHS), as Zaghe currently has no JHS infrastructure. This situation places a significant burden on pupils and parents alike, disrupting educational continuity and limiting opportunities for local children.

In addition to educational challenges, residents expressed frustration over poor road conditions. Mr. Dordaa pointed out that Zaghe is accessible via only one main road connecting it to Jirapa, which is often in poor condition. This limited access hampers daily activities, especially for schoolchildren who struggle to reach schools due to the deteriorated road network. The community is calling for the construction of additional roads to improve connectivity within Zaghe and facilitate easier access to neighboring towns.

Electricity supply remains another pressing concern. According to residents, only a portion of the community has access to the national grid. The existing power supply covers just a segment of Zaghe, leaving many households in complete darkness and without reliable electricity for daily needs.

The residents of Zaghe are appealing to local authorities and development partners to prioritize infrastructure development in their community. They emphasize that addressing these issues is essential to fostering sustainable growth, improving educational opportunities, and enhancing the overall quality of life in Zaghe.
