Residents of Guree bemoan challenges schoolchildren undergo in accessing basic education

Residents of Guree community in the Sombo East Electoral Area of the Nadowli-Kaleo District have bemoaned the challenges their schoolchildren undergo in accessing basic education as a result of inadequate classrooms.


They said the community lacks a Kindergarten block for the pre-school children compelling them to sit under trees, pavilions, and dilapidated structures to take academic instructions.


They added that the current grade level of Upper Primary of the school lacks classroom accommodation as provisions for classrooms are made up to Lower primary level.


They appealed to the government and benevolent organizations to come to their aid and provide additional classrooms for the school.


Speaking to Info Radio at the community, Mr Kyebambo Francis explained that the lack of classrooms in their school has affected quality basic education of their children in Guree community.


Mr Siibu Isaac, another resident of the community, lamented that the school is affected with a lot challenges; teachers deficiency, lack of potable water, inadequate classrooms, and abandoned toilet project facility.


Madam Grace Yelviene added that the school lacks classroom furniture and children are forced to lie on their stomachs to receive instructions.


She lamented that the children are not motivated to go to school anymore, especially this rainy season, as they do not want to sit in wet, muddy floors.


The residents, therefore, appealed to the government and other developmental agencies to come to their aid.
