Residents of Changu Share Drinking Water with Animals

The chief of the Changu community in the Nadowli Kaleo District, Kpewiire Banyelibo, has expressed concern about their only source of water. In an interview with Info Radio, he explained that the community's water source is being shared with their animals.

“We don't have access to clean drinking water in our community, which has created a lot of problems. The water we use is also consumed by our livestock and other animals in the area.”

According to the chief, the community has repeatedly instructed the herdsmen not to let their cattle drink from the water source.

However, despite these instructions, the herdsmen continue to send their cattle to drink from the only water source available in the community.

The situation has made it difficult for the community members to access enough drinking water for their daily use. As a result, they have to travel to the nearby Sankana community to get clean water.

According to the chief, the situation is worrying and if not checked could trigger waterborne diseases among the people as they were being forced to share unsafe drinking water source with animals.

He called on Non-Governmental Organizations and Philanthropists to come to their aid by helping them with a sustainable solution to their water problem.
