Residents of Bultuo appeal to government for school feeding for their KG

Residents of the Bultuo community in the Eggu Electoral Area of the Wa West District have appealed to the government and the Wa West District Assembly to include their kindergarten (KG) school in the school feeding program.

Speaking to Info Radio at the community, Mr Dong Donglas, a resident of the community, explained that children’s interest in going to school is negatively affected by the non-existence of feeding for the KG school in the community.

He disclosed that the community members always make contributions to cook for the school children but, said that is not sustainable and appealed to the government to intervene.

Madam Helena also a resident of the community further indicated that the lack of a school feeding program in their KG school has affected the children's regular attendance in school.

The Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) was initiated in 2005 as a social protection intervention under the Comprehensive Africa Agricultural Development Programme, Pillar 3, in response to the first and second Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

The programme seeks to, most especially, improve enrollment and attendance, increase cognitive and academic performance and contribute to gender equity in access to education of children and adolescents.
