Reduce rent for nurses, chief appealed to Landlords

The Chief of Poyentanga, Naa Abdulai Salia, has urged landlords in his traditional area to reduce rent for nurses in the community.

The chief noted that the current situation, where nurses have to travel from their homes in Poyentanga to other places such as Wa to sleep and come back the next day, is affecting health service delivery.

Speaking at a health durbar in Poyentanga, Naa Salia emphasized the importance of health and the need to acknowledge the service of the nurses.

He explained that the distance and the risk of traveling to Wa means that some nurses close before their closing time. The chief noted that the rent in some villages is higher than that in Wa itself.

Naa Salia also stated his commitment to collaborating with the Wa West District Health Directorate and his sub-chiefs to create a by-law that would compel people to accept referrals from the health center to higher facilities.

He promised to maintain the land they have already secured for the Wa West District Health Directorate for infrastructural development.
