President Mahama Nominates and Reassigns Ministers of State


President John Dramani Mahama has nominated two Members of Parliament for ministerial appointments and reassigned two ministers to new portfolios.


The nominations, made in accordance with Article 78(1) of the 1992 Constitution, have been submitted to Parliament through the Speaker for prior approval.


Under the nominations, Dr. Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings, MP, has been nominated as Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, while Mahama Ayariga, MP, has been nominated as Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.


The President has also announced changes to his ministerial team through a cabinet reshuffle. Hon. Kenneth Gilbert Adjei has been reassigned to serve as Minister for Defence, while Ahmed Ibrahim, MP, has been moved to the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources.


The appointments and reassignments were announced in a statement issued by the Presidency on Friday, August 7, 2026, and signed by the Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.


The ministerial nominees are expected to undergo Parliament's approval process before assuming office.
