President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has indicated that it is the desire of his government to ensure fair distribution of the national development to all parts of the country.
Addressing a durbar of chiefs and people at Issa in the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa (DBI) District during his tour to the district to inspect the Agenda 111 hospital project, the President said he is committed to channelling development to the DBI District despite their constant support for the NDC over the years.
According to him, the development of road networks in the district is evidence of his government’s non-discrimination in the national development drive.
President Akufo Addo observed that the people in the DBI District have been voting for the NDC party for seven consecutive times but could not boost of a single tarred road in the district until the NPP party came to office in 2016.
He told the people in the DBI district that if they make the NPP their first choice, the development intervention in the district would be more massive than what they are witnessing today.
He, therefore, expressed hope that with the support they had received from the NPP government, the district would lead in the “breaking the 8” agenda in the region come 2024.
The Minister of Roads and Highways, Mr Kwasi Amoako-Attah, noted that the road infrastructure development in the district is unprecedented over the last six years.
He said the road projects in the district are still ongoing with the contractor, P.W. Ghanem put in charge.
On his part, the Paramount Chief of the Issa Traditional Area, Naa Yelekuang Bawiele, commended the President for responding to their request of providing the Issa Youth Centre with a bus as well as upgrading the Issa Health Centre into a polyclinic status.
He, therefore, conferred on the president "Yeleminga Naa” – Chief of Truth – chieftaincy title for staying true to his promises.
