A philanthropist and Manager of Augustine Farms in the Sissala East Municipality, Nankpa Jibiliru, has donated a delivery bed to the Pulima Clinic to support maternal healthcare delivery in the community.
The donation, valued at GH¢4,500, is expected to improve conditions for pregnant women and health workers at the facility, where the absence of a delivery bed had posed challenges for safe and comfortable childbirth.
Speaking after presenting the bed to the clinic, Mr. Jibiliru said the gesture was in fulfillment of a promise he made during the build-up to the last Assembly elections.
“In the build-up to the last Assembly election, I made a promise to acquire a bed for the Pulima Clinic,” he explained. “After the election, I actually forgot about it until I received a letter from the health committee of the village requesting support.”
According to him, members of the committee were unaware of the earlier promise and had only approached him as a philanthropist to assist the facility. He noted that the clinic’s midwife attends to at least three to four deliveries every month, but the lack of a proper delivery bed meant women often had to deliver in uncomfortable conditions.
“This was always done in an uncomfortable position due to the lack of a delivery bed,” he said. “It was upon this challenge that the nurses wrote to me for support, and I decided to purchase the bed.”
Mr. Jibiliru used the occasion to commend individuals and stakeholders who have contributed to the development of the Pulima Clinic over the years. He paid tribute to the late Buku Kasim, whom he described as instrumental in securing a borehole for the facility.

“The number one person is the late Buku Kasim. He played a key role in getting a borehole for the clinic. May his soul rest in perfect peace,” he stated.
He also praised the Assembly Member for the Pulima Electoral Area for donating a hospital bed to the facility last year and acknowledged the contribution of the Member of Parliament, who donated 100 bags of cement toward the construction of a maternity block currently underway.
Mr. Jibiliru further expressed gratitude to his friend, Lawyer Ayuba, for partly supporting the purchase of the delivery bed. Beyond the donation, the philanthropist called on the youth of Pulima to unite and actively contribute to the development of the community.
“We have only one Pulima, and we must try to build it together,” he urged. “As a youth, what are you known for in the community? Are you known for destruction or development? These are questions we must ask ourselves before engaging in any activity.”
He stressed that unity among the youth would help accelerate development in the village and improve social welfare for residents.
The donation has been welcomed by health workers and residents, who believe the new delivery bed will significantly improve maternal healthcare services at the Pulima Clinic.
