Patients at Dabo Health Center Sit on Bare Floor to Access Health Services

Patients at Dabo Health Center in the Wa West District of the Upper West Region are compelled to sit of the bare floor in order to access health services due to the lack of furniture.

According to Madam Yinye Agnes, a resident of the community , the facility which has been upgraded from a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) and now a Health Center lacks most essential health facilities .

According to Madam Yinye Agnes account, patients have to sit or lye on the floor before being attended to by health professionals due to the lack of furniture at the facility.

She also revealed that, the health facility at Dabo also lack inadequate health staff especially mid-wives and said the only mid-wife at the facility is also on maternity leave. Meaning, the entire Dabo community and adjoining communities are without a train mid-wife.

Madam Yinye Agnes disclosed that most-times, pregnant women are referred to Dorimon Clinic , but due to the bad nature of the road , most of them refuse to go and said, those who attempt to visit the Dorimon clinic go through enormous discomfort on the road due to its bad nature.

Another resident, Mr Belinko James speaking to Info Radio noted that there is no maternity room at the facility and that newly delivered women are not able to be detained for the required 24 hours after delivery before been discharged. They therefore appealed to the Wa West District Assembly and the government and other benevolent organisations to come to their aid.
