The Sabuli Health Center in the Jirapa Municipality is facing severe overcrowding, forcing healthcare workers to admit both male and female patients in the same ward.
According to Mr. Stephen Kuubaa, the Assembly Member for Sabuli Electoral Area, the health facility is under immense pressure due to inadequate space and resources.
"Our health center is not fully equipped. When you visit, you'll see that male and female patients are admitted in the same room. There aren't enough beds, and the facility can't accommodate up to five patients, forcing some to sleep on the bare floor," Mr. Kuubaa stated.
Residents in the community have expressed concerns about the health facility, highlighting its inadequacy.
"Our population has outgrown the hospital's capacity. When we seek care, they struggle to provide adequate attention. Sometimes, patients have to use their own clothes to sleep on the floor," a resident said.
Madam Janet, a community resident, shared her concerns about the challenges women face in the community.
"We don't receive proper care when we visit the health center. Often, nurses prescribe medications, but we have to buy them ourselves. We urge the government and benevolent individuals to come to our aid."
The community is calling for urgent attention to address the overcrowding and resource challenges at the Sabuli Health Center to ensure quality healthcare for its residents.
