Nator Duori Old Students Union Donates Furniture to Primary School

The Old Students Union of Nator Duori in the Nadowli-Kaleo District of the Upper West Region, has donated furniture to the Nator Duori Primary School to support teaching and learning.

Speaking to Info Radio, the Chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association, Kalure-naa Nkunangmini, said the school has come a long way since its establishment about 27 years ago.

He recalled that the school initially operated in a church building known as the Hallelujah Church, where a community volunteer taught the pupils without pay, relying instead on community support for his upkeep. Mr Nkunangmini said the school currently lacks a day nursery and adequate furniture, a situation so dire that some pupils had to sit on the floor during lessons.

He said this prompted the current headteacher to mobilise the community into action rather than continue waiting for government support. He commended the old students and community members for their contribution towards providing furniture for the school.

The President of the Old Students Association, Nkunangmini Evans, said he completed the school about 21 years ago and was concerned about the limited development it had seen since then, a concern that led to the formation of the Association to support the school's growth.

Mr Evans said through members' contributions, the Association has so far provided ten double-seater desks to the school, and is also seeking support from the Nadowli-Kaleo District Assembly and the office of the Member of Parliament to address other challenges facing the school.
