The residents of Naro in the Nadowli Kaleo District have stated that they will only vote for a political party that can address the development challenges of the community in the upcoming December 7 general elections.
They have expressed frustration with politicians making promises before elections and then failing to deliver afterwards. As a result, the community has decided not to be misled by empty political promises.
They have emphasized that any politician seeking their votes must first demonstrate a commitment to solving their issues before the elections.
Speaking to Info Radio in the community, Mr Kpaamah Haruna Mandela, the Assembly Member for Naro Electoral Area speaking to Info Radio stated that the residents are tired of empty promises from politicians.
He mentioned that this year, “the community is united and will only give their vote to anyone who will help them. We do not care whether you are NPP or NDC."
He explained that "we know our problems cannot be solved at once, but we will vote for any politician who will work on our boreholes."
On their part, the women in Naro say they have given their full support to the men in the community and have resolved not to vote for any politician who will come to them with only promises.
Madam Alice Dagbee, a resident, said, "In the last elections, we voted for people and didn't receive any benefit from it. This year's election, we will not vote for any politician if we don't see commitment from the person."
The Naro community faces challenges in the areas of education, health, and agriculture. The community has three primary schools, but they suffer from a shortage of teachers.
The assembly member highlighted that one particular primary school has only three teachers. Additionally, the population of the community surpasses the capacity of the only CHPS compound, which serves as their primary healthcare facility.
