Nadowli-Kaleo: DCE cuts sod for construction of Kindergarten and JHS school blocks

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Nadowli/Kaleo District, Hon Katherine Tieyiri Lankono has cut sod for the construction of a Kindergarten (KG) and a Junior High School (JHS) school block at Toyaga and Pennintobo communities respectively.

The sod for the projects were cut separately at the respective communities on Thursday September 8, 2022.

A statement issued by the Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency Communications Director of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alban Kaningen N. Kpemuonye, said the Toyaga KG project when completed, will serve as a Modern Day-Nursery/Kindergarten school for the community and its catchment areas.

It said the project has come in handy where children of pre-school age in the community have to commute for a considerable distance (4-5km daily) to access pre-school/Kindergarten Education; either at Kalsegra or at Kpazie at a cost to the already impoverished parents.

According to the statement, the awarding of the project followed numerous appeals by the people on successive governments which were never met.

“It would be recalled that in time past, opinion leaders in the community made several appeals to successive governments through the NDK Assembly for help but their appeals never yielded results. It takes only the Nana Addo led government through the DCE, for the community to have a bite of the national cake.”

The DCE reiterated her commitment to making sure that the project is completed and the required human resource needed to operationalize the facility are adequately and timely provided.

The statement emphasized that “Undisputably, the project will not only put smiles on their faces but it will put an end to the "no school mantra in the Toyaga community." Pupils will no longer walk for a longer distance to access pre-school/Kindergarten Education, parents will no longer bear an extra cost of enrolling their children in schools that are several kilometers away from the community.”

Similarly, the DCE cut sod for the construction of a three-unit Junior High School classroom block in Pennintobo to absorb graduates from the primary school.

Members of the communities expressed their profound gratitude to the DCE and the Nadowli-Kaleo District Assembly for giving them a share of the national cake.

“At the sod cutting ceremony, folks of the community could not hide their joy with many asking to be woken up if they were dreaming in their sleep! They expressed their profound gratitude to the DCE and the Assembly for bringing pre-school Education to their door-step.

“Members of the community expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the DCE and her team for the fair sharing of the cake,” portions of the statement read.

The projects were funded from the District Development Fund (DDF) for 2022.

The contractor for the project assured the DCE and the community that the project will be completed in six(6) months' time.

In the company for the sod cutting ceremonies were the Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency Executives of the governing NPP, among other important stakeholders as well as chiefs and people of the beneficiary communities.
