MP for Wa East Donates GHȻ80,000 to Communities

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Wa East Constituency, Dr. Godfred Seidu Jasaw, has invested about GHȻ80,000.00 to support community-initiated health interventions towards improving access to timely healthcare services in rural areas within the constituency.

The support was in purchase of bags of cement and roofing sheets to support communities in the constituency to complete health infrastructure projects they had initiated to help beef up health infrastructure at the health facilities in rural areas within the constituency.

The first set of five communities - Chaggu, Goripie, Manwe, Tinnebe, Loggu - the MP donated to receive between 20 bags to 30 bags of cement and cash amount of GHȻ500.00 to GHȻ1,000.00.

Mr Abu Baliffiamah, the Wa East Constituency Chairman, of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party, who handed over the items to the communities on behalf of the MP, said the MP was committed to supporting to improve access to healthcare service in the constituency, especially for hard-to-reach communities.

He said the MP is taking steps to support communities to have decent delivery rooms in all health facilities across the constituency.

Dr Jasaw told Info Radio in an interview that poor roads in the Wa East Constituency are making referrals to bigger and better facilities in Wa “risky as we keep losing many lives”.

He said it is better to improve the facilities in the communities to improve quality of services pregnant women and children in particular can receive.

The MP also donated football jerseys and footballs to the communities including Buffiamah community to help development the football talents of the youth in the constituency.

Mr Rashid Sunday, an elder at Chagu, who received the items on behalf of the community, thanked the MP for the support.
