Military brutality in Wa, dastardly and unacceptable – Wa Naa fumes in upset

Overlord of the Waala Wala Traditional Area, Wa Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV, has registered before the military command his anger and displeasure over a brutality meted out to innocent unarmed residents in the township of Wa yesterday, describing the action of the men in uniform as "dastardly" and "unacceptable".

“It is really with a very heavy heart that I receive this delegation from the Military High Command in my palace today. To say I am upset will be understating the issue,” the Overlord stated in a speech read on his behalf by his Secretary, Jinpenhi Naa Kadir Ibrahim.

The overlord made this known when the Military High Command paid a courtesy call to his Royal Palace today to apologize in relation to brutalities meted to innocent citizens in Wa by personnel of the armed force on Thursday 1st July, 2021.

He vexed anger that, innocent men and women of this jurisdiction were pounced on and brutalized by people, in his view, who were supposed to ensure peace and harmony but rather unfortunately causing mayhem and anxiety.

Naa Fuseini Pelpuo, while calling for punitive measures against those who perpetuated the brutality, he also demanded compensation packages for all the victims of the military brutality.

He also uses the opportunity to appeal to the good people of his kingdom and the region as whole not to allow the extreme provocative action of misguided few of the men in uniform to push the into taking the law into their own hands.

The Chief of Army Staff, Major General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, in response to the concerns of the revered Overlord, said upon hearing and seeing the brutality unleashed on innocent souls on social media by the military men, the command thought it imperative to fly the Wa and render an unqualified apology to the Overlord and the people in general.

He described the development as a “horrible” conduct by “some misguided soldiers taking the laws into their own hands and going round and brutalizing people.”

He assured the Wa Naa and the people of the Upper West region that, his outfit will take punitive and disciplinary measures against the men in uniform who committed the heinous crime.

Having assured all and sundry of taking punitive actions against his erred men, Major General Oppong-Peprah further assured the revered Overlord, his chiefs and the entire citizenry of the region that such an ‘uncivilized’ act will never happen again.
