Maalsoteng Residents in Wa West Appeal for a Basic School
Residents of Maalsoteng, a small farming community in the Buli Electoral Area in the Wa West District of the Upper West Region are appealing to the Wa West District Assembly and the government to establish a basic school in the community, saying many children face barriers to accessing education.
The community currently has no school, forcing pupils to travel to neighbouring communities for classes. Residents say poor road conditions make the journeys worrying for both children and their parents.
Speaking to Info News during a community engagement , the Chief of Maalsoteng, Guotaa Se-emwine, said the state of the roads had heightened concerns about the safety of children travelling to school.
Mr. Dorkuoh Nebee , a resident , said Maalsoteng has many children of school-going age, but the absence of a nearby school has left some unable to attend.
He urged the government to provide the community with a school, starting with at least a kindergarten, to give local children access to early education.
