Residents of Lassia Tuolu in the Wa West District are appealing to philanthropists, government agencies, and relevant authorities to help restore their Local Area Network (LAN) and reopen a long-abandoned Information and Communication Technology (ICT) center.
The community is facing increasing digital isolation, which they say is hampering education, business, and communication.
According to residents, the LAN once operated efficiently, offering internet access that supported learning, local commerce, and general connectivity. However, the network has seen a near-total collapse following the erection of a new LAN pole in the community.
Rather than improving service, the new infrastructure has coincided with significant connectivity issues, leaving the community digitally stranded.
Speaking to Info Radio, Mr. Dooyele Cletus expressed concern over the neglected state of the ICT center. He revealed that although the facility was completed and officially commissioned in 2016, it has remained unused ever since.
The center, which was handed over to the Wa West District Assembly, now stands abandoned, serving as a stark reminder of unfulfilled promises.
Despite these challenges, Mr. Cletus noted that the people of Lassia Tuolu remain hopeful and are eager to see the center revived. He called on stakeholders to intervene and support efforts to restore the LAN and make the ICT facility functional again.
