Insufficient infrastructure affecting effective teaching and learning at Piisi

Residents of Piisi in the Wa Municipality of the Upper West Region have cited insufficient infrastructure as a serious challenge affecting effective teaching and learning at the Piisi Junior High School.

Speaking to Info Radio’s thought provoking and discerning morning show, “ZIENYAANYE UPPER WEST”, Madam Gladys, who is a resident and a Unit Committee Member for the Piisi Electoral Area, said the school has only three classroom block, which according to her is insufficient to accommodate the huge population of the school.

She revealed that parent had to improvise additional classrooms with the use of sticks and stocks as an interim measure to the infrastructural deficit bedeviling the school.

Madam Gladys lamented that teachers and pupils occupying the improvised structure sometimes have to battle it out with dangerous reptiles like snakes, adding that whenever it rains, teaching and learning has to be called off.

The residents therefore called on city authorities, philanthropists and Non-Governmental Organizations to come to their aid.
