IGP petitioned over murder of lawyer Richard Badombie

The members of the Coalition for Justice for Lawyer Richard Badombie have petitioned the office of the Inspector General of Police, IGP over the murder of Mr Richard Badombie, a lawyer.

He was shot to death in the Savannah Region by unidentified gunmen while he was traveling home from Accra to Jirapa.

The Kuncheni Electoral Area Assembly Member, Mr Richard Badombie, was a revered key figure from Jirapa, well respected across the length and breadth of the entire Upper West Region and beyond.

The petition which followed a route march through the principal streets of Jirapa in the Upper West Region was read by the lead convenor of the coalition, Mr Ebenezer Ayaemah on Wednesday, July 6, 2022.

The group indicated that their demands followed similar murder cases where the perpetrators were not punished.

They identified the killing of a mobile vendor at Kyoobariyiri, a suburb of Jirapa while he was returning home from work as one of the incidents were the perpetrators were not punished.

The Coalition for Justice for Lawyer Richard Badombie, therefore, said it want to work with the requisite state institutions to strengthen their collective efforts to ensure that the perpetrators are called to book.

It also called on the IGP to do thorough investigation into the matter of the murder of Lawyer Richard Badombie, identify all persons who are complicit in this heinous crime and to punish them accordingly.

The Coalition also appealed to the security agencies to be revamped to assure the people of the country are safe, and democracy not benefiting a selected few while the rest of the people are at the mercy of these criminals.

They gave the Police Administration an ultimatum of fourteen (14) days within which, it must furnish the Coalition with status of the investigations.
