GHS announces COVID-19 vaccination rollout starting May 4

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has announced a countrywide COVID-19 vaccination targeting all eligible populations.

The vaccination drive is scheduled to commence from May 4 to May 9, 2024, and aims to control the spread of the virus.

The Wa Municipal Director of Health Service, Dr Alex Bapula said, “Round (R10) is very crucial and timely as the country is accelerating its effort towards reaching the remaining unvaccinated and partially immunized population.”

According to him, all persons 18 years and above who are yet to receive a dose are qualified to be vaccinated and those who received 1st booster are all also qualified to receive 2nd booster “while those on 2nd booster will be qualified to receive a 3rd booster.”

Mr. Bapula mentioned that COVID-19 vaccination services would be available at all health facilities and service delivery points where applicable.

Dr Bapula appealed to the media to help educate the public on vaccines to demystify conspiracy theories and myths surrounding vaccinations and other public Health Interventions.
