The Fulbe communities in the Poyentanga Sub-district in the Wa West District of the Upper West Region are now experiencing improved access to healthcare services thanks to the targeted efforts of the Poyentanga Sub-district Health Center under the Health Reach initiative. This program according to health authorities has successfully integrated Fulbe residents into the formal healthcare system through continuous community engagement and innovative partnership strategies.

Speaking exclusively to Info Radio, Mr. Emmanuel Kutina, the Senior Physician Assistant overseeing the health center, highlighted the significance of sustained interactions with Fulbe residents. "Through regular engagement with the community, we've carried out numerous health assessment activities, which have fostered trust and encouraged greater participation in healthcare services," he explained.

These engagements have also led to the formation of peer support groups—Mother-to-Mother and Father-to-Father—that serve as vital platforms for health education and mutual support within the Fulbe communities. Such groups are instrumental in disseminating vital health information and fostering community-led health initiatives.

Mr. Kutina emphasized the role of the Network of Practice (NoP), a collaborative framework that connects traditional healers and spiritual consultants with formal healthcare providers. "This integration has enhanced mutual understanding and trust, enabling traditional practitioners to better recognize when to refer patients for medical treatment," he noted. This partnership not only bridges cultural gaps but also improves health outcomes by ensuring timely medical intervention.

The health center leadership expressed gratitude to community leaders, chiefs, and stakeholders whose unwavering support has been pivotal in community sensitization efforts. Mr. Kutina called on all partners to continue their support and urged community leaders to promote self-initiated projects aimed at upgrading local health infrastructure and sustaining the gains achieved.
