Elevate the health centre to polyclinic- residents of Bulenga

Residents of Bulenga in the Wa East District have called on the Ghana Health Service and Wa East District Assembly as well as benevolent individuals and organisations to elevate their health centre to the status of a polyclinic.

Speaking to Info Radio, Naa Yakubu Kunbarekanga, Guor Naa, said the health facility is lacking space to admit more patients.

He said there is much pressure on the facility as it serves all the surrounding communities in the area.

He said patients have to be discharged because there is no room to admit them disclosing that, the delivery ward cannot contain more than three women.

He further added that the facility is lacking of logistics like beds and chairs to aid smooth health care delivery in the area.

He noted that lacks of equipment in the health center is also hindering smooth health service delivery.

Naa Kunbarekanga said they need medical doctor at the facility to reduce the rate of referral situations from the health centre.

Madam Aminata Majeed recounted an instance where she shared bed with a man at the facility when she was admitted due to the inadequate beds at the facility.

She also appealed to the government to connect electricity to the facility to improve the health service delivery.
