The Member of Parliament for Wa East, Dr. Godfred Seidu Jasaw, has embarked on the renovation of several health facilities across the constituency as part of efforts to improve healthcare delivery and enhance working conditions for health professionals.
Dr. Jasaw explained that many health facilities in the district had not seen any major renovation since they were constructed and had deteriorated over the years. He noted that the poor state of these facilities, coupled with the lack of basic medical equipment, had negatively affected the quality of healthcare services available to residents.
The need for urgent intervention, he said, became more critical following the 2023 ranking of the Wa East District as first in maternal and infant mortality in the Upper West Region, a situation he described as deeply worrying.

Speaking in an interview with Info Radio, Dr. Jasaw said improving healthcare infrastructure remains central to his development agenda for the constituency. He indicated that several health facilities have already been renovated to give them a major facelift and make them more functional.
As part of the interventions, Dr. Jasaw disclosed that, in partnership with Qatar Charity, new clinics with nurses’ accommodation have been constructed at Tuasa and Kolkpong to improve access to healthcare, especially for residents in remote communities.
He further mentioned that the Chaggupaala health facility, which was previously in a deplorable state, has been renovated and equipped with a delivery bed and other essential medical equipment to support maternal and child healthcare services.

In addition, the Kpaglaghi health facility, which serves more than 10 surrounding communities, has undergone a significant facelift to enhance service delivery and improve the overall healthcare experience for patients.
Dr. Jasaw expressed optimism that the ongoing renovation and upgrading of health facilities will contribute significantly to improving healthcare outcomes and reducing preventable maternal and infant deaths in the Wa East District.
