Key stakeholders in the Upper West Region have raised alarms over the rising misuse of government-issued tablets in Senior High schools. Mr. Sidik Watara, Coordinator of the Right to Information Coalition, voiced his concerns during an Interview on Info Weekend Watch program, highlighting issues surrounding the digital learning initiative.

According to Mr. Watara, the primary reason for providing students with tablets loaded with soft copies of textbooks was to address delays in printing physical books. However, he expressed worry that some students are now stealing the devices, undermining the program's objectives.

Mr. Watara emphasized that, the tablets should be strictly used for educational purposes, warning against their use for entertainment or other activities that could distract students from learning. Mr. Watara pointed out that the tablets' poor build quality makes them prone to damage and malfunction, which hampers the initiative's effectiveness.

As the program faces these challenges, stakeholders in education are calling for stricter oversight and improved device quality to ensure that the digital learning tools serve their intended purpose of enhancing education in the region.
