The Assemblyman for Tabiasi in the Daffiama Bussie Issa, Baadia Sungdong, has raised alarm over a critical shortage of medicines at the community’s clinic, warning that the situation is severely affecting healthcare delivery for residents.

Speaking on Info Radio, Mr. Sungdong said the facility is in poor condition and lacks essential drugs needed to treat patients. He explained that the absence of medical supplies has forced many residents to travel long distances to seek treatment or buy medicines from private pharmacies, where prices are often beyond the reach of ordinary community members.

According to him, equipping the clinic with adequate medicines and basic medical logistics is essential for it to function effectively and meet the health needs of the population. He noted that plans are underway to renovate the facility, a development he believes will significantly improve access to healthcare services in the area.

Mr. Sungdong therefore appealed to government authorities and non-governmental organizations to urgently support the clinic with medicines, equipment, and infrastructure upgrades to enhance service delivery.

In addition to healthcare challenges, the assemblyman highlighted poor telecommunication services across several communities in the area. He said many residents lack reliable network coverage, making it difficult to communicate via mobile phones. The situation, he stressed, affects everyday communication, limits access to emergency services, and restricts digital connectivity.

Mr Sungdong expressed hope that authorities will respond swiftly to the community’s appeal, noting that improved health and communication services are vital to their development and well-being.
