The African Media and Malaria Research Network (AMMREN), in partnership with the National Vaccine Institute (NVI), hosted a two-day training program aimed at empowering Ghanaian journalists to enhance vaccine communication and combat misinformation. The event took place at the NVI conference hall and brought together media professionals from across the country.

During the training, Dr. Sodzi Sodzi Tettey, CEO of the NVI, underscored the importance of public confidence in Ghana’s ambitious goal to produce vaccines locally. He highlighted that this vision, championed by President John Dramani Mahama, is vital for strengthening national health security. Dr. Tettey announced that the NVI plans to implement evidence-based strategies to address vaccine misconceptions, whether related to locally produced or imported vaccines.

Expressing appreciation for the collaboration, Dr. Charity Binka, AMMREN’s Executive Secretary, praised the initiative’s role in fostering trust and accurate health information. She emphasized the critical influence of journalists in shaping public perceptions and promoting informed health choices.
