Yaro Residents Call on Government to Fix their Deplorable Road

Residents of Yaro, a community in the Wa East District are calling on government to fix their deplorable road.

They said the nature of the road makes it difficult for them to use during rainy seasons.

The residents say the road is in a terrible condition due to a washed off bridge, causing the road to become muddy and pothole ridden.

Speaking to Info Radio News, Hajia Pognaa Samana, a resident, said it is frustrating that the government has not taken any action to fix the road.

“What we want from government is our road to be fixed. Even if the entire road cannot be fixed, the district assembly should fill the potholes with gravel.

I recently had an accident on that road on my way home from the market in Wa,” she added.

Hajia Samana also added that when the Member of Parliament (MP), Dr Godfred Seidu Jasaw, was questioned about the road when he visited the community, the MP said he had requested the District Chief Executive (DCE), Dr Ewura S.K Mahama to take action on the road.

The MP, however, indicated that the DCE said contract has already been awarded for the road to be worked on.

Madam Loguma Zenab, a commuter, told Info Radio that the road is in a very terrible state that they had to get down and push their vehicle to continue their journey when they were travelling on that road.
