The District Director of Health Service, Madam Cecilia Kakariba has disclosed that the Wa West District Health Directorate has recorded a significant improvement in health service delivery.
According to her, the district has undertaken a lot of activities and initiatives geared towards health services delivery and many of them have been accomplished.
The Theme for the 2023 annual Health Sector Performance Review read: Ensuring Quality Data for Optimal Planning and Decision Making, the role of the health worker.
Speaking during the review at Wechiau on Thursday, February 22, 2024, the District Director of Health Service, Madam Kakariba highlighted that the district has accomplished its activities through community engagement with all stakeholders in the district.
She mentioned that they increased the number of health infrastructures from 45 to 73, recorded a high number of antenatal care, reduced the mortality rate from 29 down to 9 last year, carried out COVID-19 exercises, and provided water to some of the health facilities including the installation of 20 solar panels at some of the facilities.
The Director, however, lamented the inadequate means of transport, deplorable roads and inadequate water supply hindering quality healthcare delivery.
Mr. Obeng Rahma, the Sissala East Municipal Disease Control Officer, on behalf of the Sissala East District Health Administration, speaking on the holistic assessment feedback, noted that the district made a significant improvement this year in health service delivery.
He thus urged the District Director and her staff to hold tight to their teamwork.
Mr Prosper M. Lana, the Deputy Director of Administration speaking on behalf of the Upper West Regional Director of Health Service, has congratulated the Wa West District Director of Health Service, Madam Cecilia Kakariba and her staff for improving health service delivery.
