Wa: Telecom customers’ take on SIM card re-registration

The government has extended the deadline for the SIM card re-registration to 30th September 2022.

Meanwhile, the National Communication Authority, NCA has issued punitive measures against persons who have failed to register their SIM cards.

The full blocking of SIM cards according to the statement will only begin after September 30.

The exercise was expected to end on March 31, 2022, but extended by another four months to July 31, 2022 and now September 30.

Following the announcement by the NCA, Info Radio interacted with some customers of the telecommunication networks in Wa, and they shared their challenges in linking the Ghana Card to the SIM.

They bemoaned the stress in acquiring the Ghana Card in time.

They, therefore, called on the government to make the registration open so that those without Ghana Card can re-register any time they acquire it as they experiences challenges in acquiring the National Identification Card.

They argued that there were some customers who were yet to qualify for acquiring the Ghana Card because they had not attained their 15th birthday, and for that matter, the registration should be left opened and rolling.
