The Ghana Health Service (GHS) will be conducting a national mass measles-rubella vaccination campaign from October 2-6, 2024.
This is in response to recent measles and measles-rubella outbreaks in some areas of Ghana. The aim of the campaign is to stop the spread of these diseases and maintain the progress made in reducing associated deaths in previous years.
The vaccination campaign will target over 34,000 children aged 9-59 months in the Wa Municipality from Wednesday, October 2nd to Sunday, October 6th, 2024.
The main objectives of the campaign are to fill gaps in immunization coverage by reaching 95% vaccination coverage, provide Vitamin A supplements to improve nutritional status, and raise community awareness through effective social mobilization.
