Wa Municipal Health Directorate set to begin 2nd round of polio vaccination

Wa Municipal Health Directorate is set to begin the second round of the Polio vaccination exercise aimed at protecting children against the polio virus.

The exercise is scheduled to start from Thursday, 6th October to Sunday, 9th October 2022.

Dr. Alex Bapula, the Wa Municipal Director of Health Services revealed this during a meeting with a cross-section of radio stations in Wa.

He explained that all children under 5 years are expected to be immunized and appealed to all caregivers to make the children under the age category available for the exercise for their own benefit.

Dr. Bapula said the vaccination team would be deployed to all households, schools, churches, mosques, market centres, and lorry stations among others to vaccinate all the children within the target age group in the municipality.

He, therefore, pleaded with all parents and caregivers to cooperate with the vaccination teams throughout the exercise as it is important for every child to be vaccinated.

The Health Director commended the vaccination teams, health workers and caregivers for making the first round of the exercise successful and urged them to replicate that cooperation to make the second round also successful to get all the children in the municipality protected against the polio virus.
